II. DEANS


                    Responsibilities


                   The Dean of School is the Chief Executive of the School and will work in the  respective disciplines, towards the
                    achievement of
                                 Become a pioneering, world class centre of excellence
                                 Nurture  effective capabilities for the  development of high  quality technical  and  scientific
                                 manpower to meet the challenges of modern Science and Technology
                                 Provide cost effective solutions and value added services to a variety of organizations
                                 Foster learning and creative community that will continuously strive to advance the frontiers
                                 of knowledge and promote the application of Science, Engineering and Technology for the
                                 betterment of society by providing the necessary leadership and planning within the broad
                                 policy framework set by the Board of Management and overall direction by the Vice-Chancellor
                                 of the Institute
                   The Dean will act as an interface between the management and the staff of the school for  effective functioning
                    of the school
                   The Dean will motivate his/her Employees and get the best out of them so that the    school   will   get
                    international recognition within a short time as a Centre of Excellence in  teaching, research  and industrial
                    consultancy.
                   The Dean will establish linkages with reputed institutions and industries to facilitate    cross  fertilization  of
                    ideas, optimal utilization of physical and human resources and   cooperative efforts in research and education.
                   The Dean will act as Facilitator and a catalyst for external resource generation by the    Faculty of the school
                    through funded Projects and Consultancy.
                   The Dean is the custodian and overseer of the quality standards of education, research   and  value  system
                    within the school which should be in consonance with those of other    schools within the Institute and those
                    of the Institute itself. The Dean of a school    should therefore work in close cooperation and coordination
                    with the Deans of Other    Schools,  Dean  (Academics), Director (Academic Research),  Director
                    (International   Relations) and the Vice-Chancellor.

             Empowerment

             For achieving the objective and effectively discharging the duties and responsibilities assigned, the Deans are bestowed
             with sufficient authority and power as detailed below:

                    (i)  The  Dean would be associated  with the  selection  and promotion of all  the  Employees of  the school
                       concerned.
                    (ii) The Dean would be the approving and forwarding authority for all travel requests of the Faculty, Staff and
                       Research Students of the School for travel within India.
                    (iii) A budget is prepared by the Deans taking into consideration the future requirements and also the previous
                       year   expenses.  The    budget   is  submitted   to   the   Management    for  approval.
                       The budget allotment becomes operational from 1 April of the Financial Year and the Deans have the
                       absolute Operational control of the budget allotted.
                    (iv) The Dean of a School will have a say in the incentives (reward) and disincentive (punishment) awarded to
                       any    Employee    of   the   respective  school   for  his   /    her   performance   /
                       non-performance.
